A Free Habit Tracker With Nothing Behind a Paywall
Most free habit trackers are a trial, a three-habit limit, or a statistics screen
that asks for a yearly subscription the moment it gets useful. Streaky has no paid
tier at all. Here is what that covers and how the app pays for itself.

Four things the word "free" is used for
Before comparing apps it helps to know which of these you are looking at, because all four are listed as free in the store.
The trial
Everything works for seven days, then the app stops. It was never free, it was a demonstration. This is usually disclosed, but rarely on the screen where you were adding your third habit.
The limit
Three habits free, unlimited for a subscription. The trap here is timing: the limit is comfortable in week one and binding in month two, by which point you have a history you do not want to abandon. That is the point at which the price is quoted.
The paywalled statistics
The most common shape in habit tracking. Logging is free forever; the heatmap, the trends, the export and the year view are premium. Since the whole reason to log anything is to look at it later, this puts the paywall on the actual product.
Free with advertising
Every feature works, and the app is funded by ads. This is what Streaky is, and it is worth saying plainly rather than burying it, because it is the honest answer to "how do they make money".
The short version
Streaky has no premium tier, no trial, no habit limit and no paywalled screens. Every feature listed on this page is available on the day you install it, and it is funded by ads rather than by a subscription.
What free covers
Every feature, on day one.
No screen in Streaky is locked, dimmed, or marked with a padlock.
🔥
Unlimited habits
There is no cap at three, five, or ten. Add as many as you can realistically hold, which is fewer than most people think.
📊
The full statistics screen
Progress rings for today, week and month, donut breakdowns by habit and weekday rhythm charts. Not a preview of them.
📅
The whole heatmap
Fifteen weeks of check-ins, every square tappable. In most trackers this is the first thing behind the paywall.
🏆
All 24 achievements
Early Bird, Night Owl, Weekend Warrior, Iron Discipline. None of them are premium unlocks.
🔔
Reminders on any schedule
Per habit, at the time you choose, on the exact weekdays you choose. Local notifications, no server involved.
🔒
App Lock and data export
Face ID, Touch ID or passcode on launch, plus JSON export of everything you have logged. Both free.
How the app is funded, plainly
Streaky shows ads through Google AdMob. That is the entire business model, and it is the reason there is no subscription screen.
Two details matter more than most people expect. The ads are non-personalised, which means the network is not building a behavioural profile from what it sees. And your habit data is not involved at all — not anonymised, not aggregated, not shared. It never leaves your phone, because the app has no server to send it to.
The full detail of what the ad network does and does not receive is in the privacy policy. It is short and worth two minutes if this is the kind of thing you care about.
Will it stay free?
The honest answer is that no app can promise its own future, and you should be suspicious of any that does. What can be said concretely: there is no premium tier built and waiting to be switched on, there is no account system that could gate features later, and because Streaky has no accounts, there is nothing to migrate you into.
The more useful protection is the export button. Profile, Export data, and your entire history writes to a JSON file you keep. An app that lets you leave with your own data is making a much more credible promise than one that says "free forever" in the store listing.
What free does not buy you
Two real trade-offs, stated up front:
There are ads. They are not intrusive and they do not gate anything, but they exist. If you want an ad-free experience, that is a legitimate reason to pay for a different app.
There is no cloud sync or automatic backup. This is a consequence of the architecture rather than of the price. The offline-first page covers what that means in practice.
Common questions
Is Streaky really free, or is it a trial?
It is free with no time limit. There is no trial period, no countdown, and no screen that stops working after a week. Every feature is available from the first launch.
Is there a premium or pro version?
No. There is no paid tier, so there is nothing to upgrade to. Statistics, the heatmap, achievements, reminders, App Lock and data export are all included.
Is there a limit on how many habits I can add?
No. Many free trackers cap you at three or five habits; Streaky does not cap you at all. In practice the useful limit is two or three new habits at a time, which is about how many a person can form at once.
How does the app make money?
Through ads shown by Google AdMob. The ads are non-personalised, meaning the network is not building a behavioural profile, and your habit data is never part of it because it never leaves your device.
Could it become paid later?
Nothing can be promised about the future, but there is no premium tier built, and no account system that could be used to gate features. You can also export everything you have logged to a JSON file at any time and take it elsewhere.
